Vincent Perry, 82, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at home in Toms River surrounded by his family.
Born in Plainfield, Vinnie grew up in South Plainfield. He resided in Westfield and relocated back to South Plainfield before moving to Toms River in 2018.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Vinnie achieved the Sharpshooter and Marksman grade during his enlistment and received his honorable discharge in 1961. He was a longtime member of South Plainfield VFW Post 6763 and served two terms as Post Commander.
Prior to owning and operating his own business, Vinco Roofing in Westfield, Vinnie worked as a baker in his family bakery in Plainfield, the former Johnston Avenue Bakery.
More than anything, Vinnie loved spending time with his family and friends, especially making homemade pizza and bread for them. He was an avid boxing fan and enjoyed watching matches on television and also movies and westerns.
Predeceased by his wife Carol and brother Raymond Perry, surviving are his daughters, Lisa Perry of Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, and Tracey Giannouris and her husband John of Flemington; loving partner, Susan White of Toms River; stepchildren Anthony LaPierre of Toms River and Melissa White of Matawan; sister, Joan Mazuca and her husband Peter of Plainfield; grandchildren, Marianna Root and her husband Michael, James Vincent Sansone and his wife Katie, and Michael Giannouris; and great grandchildren, Elena Root and Brielle Sansone.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 14, beginning at 9:15 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am funeral mass at Church of the Sacred Heart, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Immediately following mass, Vincent will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
