Candle White
Jan (Balent) D’Amato
My deepest condolences to you - Annie, Geri, and Ferd on the passing of your Mom. Sincerest sympathies to all your families. I have known your Mom since I was a teenager. It was always such a joy to watch your Mom and Dad together. They were a sweet couple! It was such a blow when he passed away so young. I can remember celebrating the Feast of the Three Kings at your home many times, and your Mom would cook mountains of food. She definitely knew how to feed A LOT of people some EXCELLENT food. Of course, the joke was always - “this isn’t the goat, is it?” She’d tease us about that all the time! Your Mom knew I’d follow her anywhere for her fruit salad! Somehow, whenever I’d visit her at home or at work, there’d be a container of fruit salad for me. I was blessed to join in your Mom’s work group of friends (probably because she worked with my Mom and sister, Nancy). We had fantastic trips together. We celebrated many events together. Your Mom would laugh and share stories about her childhood, the Philippines, her travels, and all of you - her pride and joys. I think our group would always see you all off to your proms… your Mom could celebrate any event and make it a full out party. She loved to gather people around her and make them happy. Your Mom was special that way. I have very fond memories of your Mom and know how blessed I was to have her in my life. I am proud to say Lydia was my friend. I loved and appreciated her very much. Somehow I keep thinking your Mom and Dad are back together again. Your Mom would be joyous! You all are in my thoughts and prayers… please know that your Mom made a difference in many people’s lives. May God continue to bless Lydia in heaven.
