

Obituary of Donna Jean Hicks
Edison, NJ – Donna Jean Hicks, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Bronx, NY, Donna lived in Hackensack prior to moving to Edison twenty-three years ago.
She retired from the United States Postal Service where she worked as a supervisor in Maplewood. Donna was a Worthy Matron for the Eastern Star. She also enjoyed pottery and gardening, loved working and was an all-around great person.
Sis Donna J. Hicks, Past Matron became a member of St. John Chapter No. 12 1/17/2002 and quickly began charity work within the chapter whether it was being an appointed or elected officer or devoting her time in the community helping others. Sis Hicks, PM served as Worthy Matron of St. John Chapter No. 12 in 2009 - 2010 with her Worthy Patron Bro. Nathan Cromartie. Predeceased by her father Ned Benjamin Hicks, and uncles Clarence and Marshall Lee, Donna leaves behind her loving mother, Imogene Hicks of Edison, her brother Lateef Mumin, her aunt Theresa (Board) General (considered each other as sisters) and her husband Calvin of Long Island, NY her uncle Leroy Baker and his wife Susan of Indianapolis, IN. Donna will also be missed by her nieces; Asya Mumin-Miller (husband Michael Miller) Aleta Eubanks (husband Duane Eubanks) and Kameelah Mumin, God children Raymond and Brandi Lynn General. Donna was also survived by many cousins and Lifelong friends including Albertha Ingram and her husband Paul of Fishkill, NY and Larry Hopkins and his wife Audrey of Macon, NC, also her four-legged companions, her cats; Lee Morgan, Kitty Wee, BB and Tangerine as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Family and friends may gather from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Closing remarks and eulogies will begin at 1:30pm.
