Obituary of David Lee Hall
David Lee Hall passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Dave was born and raised in Toast, North Carolina, by his parents Joe Henry and Pearl Hall alongside his eight siblings. At the age of 18, he set off on a journey north to New Jersey, filled with hopes and dreams of building a new life.
While working at the Plainfield White Star Diner, Dave met the love of his life Rosemarie Bottone when she delivered bread to the restaurant. Their love story blossomed quickly, and in May of 1957, they were married, beginning a beautiful life together.
Dave and Rosemarie devoted themselves to raising their beloved children, Donna, David, and Mark, while building a legacy in the restaurant business. As the proud owners of White Star diners in Plainfield, East Orange, and South Plainfield, they created more than just successful businesses; they built a community. Their diners also became places where families gathered, firefighters found a familiar meal, and regulars formed lasting memories.
Through their work, Dave and Rose instilled the values of hard work, dedication, and integrity in their employees, many of whom carried those lessons with them throughout their lives. Dave was known as a mentor, offering wisdom and guidance to young people just starting out in the workforce.
Beyond his work, Dave cherished spending time with family and friends. He and Rose found joy in entertaining and were often seen on the golf courses of the Poconos and Florida, always surrounded by laughter and good company.
Dave will be lovingly remembered as a devoted father, a supportive grandfather, and a generous friend. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children; daughter Donna and her husband Paul Kucinski; their daughter Krysta Marie and her husband Thomas; and their son Paul Anthony, son David and his wife Charlene; and their two daughters, Mackenzie Rose and Paige Spencer and his son Mark and his wife Angela; and her two sons, William and Michael.
Dave is also survived by his sister Annie Kay and her husband Bill; his brother Donald and Donald’s wife, Marianne; his sisters-in-law Francis, Angelina, Nicolina, and Carol; and his brother-in-law Anthony and his wife, Wendy. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He is now reunited with his beloved Rosemarie, his parents Joe Henry and Pearl (Booker), his brothers Norris, Joe Henry, and Jack, and his sisters Peggy, Nancy, and Sue. Dave’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
