

Obituary of Winnifred A Turnbull
Winnie A. Turnbull (nee Stockhausen) born April 5th, 1929, in Ulster Spring, Trelawny, passed February 25th, 2025 in Somerset, NJ.
Born to the late Clarice Moore and Arnold Stockhausen, Winnie spent her early years in Trelawny, living with her Mom atop Moore Hill.
As a child she went to school in Albert Town, which required a weekly commute. She would leave Moore Hill on Sunday after church and walk to Albert Town where she would stay with her Mom's friends and attend school there, before returning to Moore Hill on Friday afternoon after school.
In addition to her Mom, Winnie was surrounded and raised by the extended Moore family members, her grandparents Henry and Julia, her Uncle Huntley, Aunt Lola, Uncle Percy, cousins Allison (Bibs), Davon and Nigel (Teddy).
In her early working life Winnie was a Teacher, she mainly taught English lessons. After working for Bardowell Brothers for many years, as wells as a Fruit Shipping Company in their business offices, Winnie immigrated to East Orange, New Jersey in 1968. She then worked for MCA, Williams and London in Newark and Rutgers University in New Brunswick for many years, before retiring.
Winnie was a wiz at crossword puzzles, which she did while listening to music, the likes of Johnny Mathis, Dionne Warwick, Frank Sinatra, Engelbert Humperdink, Tom Jones, and Brook Benton.
In 1950, Winnie got married to Herbert C. Turnbull, and they had three children, Bradford, Glendon and Ian, but were later divorced in the 1980's. In addition to her children, Winnie also leaves behind, daughter-in-law Dana, grandchildren Shakirah, Brian, Natasha, Patricia, Katrina, Aaron, Andre and Ian Jr., twenty great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ, on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 9 AM to 10:15 AM.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home beginning at 10:15 AM on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the Turnbull family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Winnie’s name.
