

Obituary of Claude Guy, Jr.
Claude Sherwyn Guy, Jr., 57, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
Born in East Orange, NJ, Claude grew up in Piscataway, graduating from Piscataway High School in 1985. He furthered his education at Stockton State College in Galloway, NJ.
Following college, Claude enlisted in the U.S. Navy proudly and faithfully, serving our country from February 3, 1988, thru February 2, 1991. During his three-year active-duty enlistment, Claude served as a Gunner’s Mate and traveled to various countries including Spain, France, Egypt, Israel, Turkey, and Italy while billeted to the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
Upon his honorable discharge, Claude relocated to Florida, residing in Orlando and St. Petersburg prior to recently moving back to Somerset, NJ to be closer to family.
As a talented athlete he enjoyed playing tennis, soccer, basketball, and baseball. He also loved and followed various sports, particularly tennis, skiing, NASCAR, and Formula One car racing.
Additionally, Claude was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and had a passion for Meteorology as well as a vision of being a pilot, where he dreamed of attending Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
Claude loved his Caribbean heritage, loved his family and friends dearly, and he was a friend to everyone he met.
Claude is survived by his parents Evangeline Miranda Guy and Claude Simpson Guy of Hillsborough, NJ; sisters, Karen Guy – Smith (James) of Sparta, NJ and Karla Guy of Absecon, NJ; brother, Clyde Peters of Montreal, Canada; aunts, Bernadette Thomas (Wellington) of Boynton Beach, FL and Nolly Cumberbatch of Brooklyn, NY; great aunt, Greta Morain of Brooklyn, NY; nieces, Keshia Peters of Brooklyn, NY and Jada Smith of Chicago, IL; nephews, Jalen Smith of Washington DC and Josiah Smith of Sparta, NJ; cousins, Gail Guy of Arima, Trinidad, WI, Heather Frank of New Brunswick, NJ, Kevin Thomas (Levene) of Orlando, FL, Craig Thomas (Samantha) of Boynton Beach, FL, Mervyn Cumberbatch Jr. (Deborah) of Brooklyn, NY, Nicole Cumberbatch also of Brooklyn, NY and Fr. Ashton Francis (Janni) of St. Vincent, WI; and a host of additional cousins near and far.
The visitation will begin at 10:45am followed by an 11:00am funeral service on April 10, 2025 at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, NJ 08854.
Immediately following the funeral service, Claude will be laid to rest at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
