

Obituary of Hildegard Hafner
Hildegard Hafner, 95, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Complete Care at the Woodlands in Plainfield, NJ.
Born in Wolfurt, Austria, to the late Jakob and Christina Dür, Hilda grew up in Austria, later working in Switzerland where she met her future husband, John Hans Hafner. The two later immigrated to the United States in 1958, residing in Bloomfield, NJ for a year, before settling in South Plainfield, where she has resided since.
Through the years, Hilda held many positions, but was proudly the Co-Owner of the family business, A1 German Car Service Inc., a company her and John started from the ground up.
Hilda enjoyed traveling, sewing and knitting. She also enjoyed nature, watching the birds in the yard, and tending to her garden.
Predeceased by her husband John Hans Hafner, Hilda is survived by her son Hans Peter Hafner and his wife Karen, and grandchildren Joe, Lea and Billy and his wife Tierney. She will also be missed by her great grandchildren, Patrick, Noah, Everly and Owen, as well and a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at McCriskin – Gustafson home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 9 AM to 11 AM.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11 AM.
Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1734 Clinton Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ.
