Obituary of Kyle F Cullen
Kyle Francis Cullen, 34, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Born in Summit, NJ, to Frank and Patti Cullen, Kyle was a lifelong resident of South Plainfield. He was a graduate of Union Catholic High School, Class of 2009, and then continued his studies at Middlesex County College and New Jersey City University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice / National Security. Kyle has worked for Rutgers University for the last 7 years, in the Facilities Department.
Kyle had a love for sports, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, South Carolina Gamecocks, and most of all, the New York Yankees. Looking for anyway to spend time around baseball, Kyle proudly worked with the Somerset Patriots as a ball boy for two seasons. Aside from sports, he was an avid gamer, playing a variety of video games including Minecraft. Not only did he play games on the computer, he was a computer and tech expert. Kyle also loved spending time with his family on vacations to Disney World, Gettysburg, Busch Gardens and the beach. He also enjoyed spending time with his cat, Huey, while enjoying a Mountain Dew.
Predeceased by his grandfathers, Francis Cullen, Sr., and Donald Schreck, Kyle will be deeply missed by his parents, Francis Cullen, Jr. and Patricia (nee Schreck) Cullen; sister, Courtney Cullen; brother, Ryan Cullen and his wife Angelina; niece, Ariana; and Godson, Aidan. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart RC Church, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 10 AM. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home prior to mass, beginning at 9 AM.
Cremation services will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, the Cullen family has requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Kyle’s name.
