

Obituary of Thomas Hochreiner
Old Bridge – Thomas P. Hochreiner, 60, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025 at home surrounded by the love of his family after a brief illness.
Born in Elizabeth, Thomas is a long time resident of Plainfield, graduating from Plainfield High School in 1983. After graduation, Thomas enlisted with the United States Army and served proudly for four years until his honorable discharge.
Thomas continued his education at Rutgers University, receiving his Master’s Degree in social work. He retired from the Roosevelt Care Center of Edison. He settled into Old Bridge with his beloved wife, Silvia almost 25 years ago.
Tom enjoyed the outdoors sharing residences in the Poconos and Costa Rica. He never missed an opportunity to take time to go fishing, hiking or kayaking. He also often antiqued a hobby he loved.
Predeceased by his father, Robert Hochreiner and sisters, Laura Mattejat and Christine Felder; surviving are his wife, Silvia (Corrales) Hochreiner; mother, Joan Hochreiner; siblings, Michele Walsh and husband John, John Hochreiner and wife Lisa Mowbray and MaryBeth Evers and husband Tim.
He will also be missed by his ten nieces and nephews, Kelly, Kimberly, Christopher, Maxwell, Ryan, Brandon, Bobbi, Kyle, Emily and Abbey as well as extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11AM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by burial in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 5-8PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thomas’s memory to an Animal Shelter of one’s choosing.
