Obituary of Jane A Rossiter

Jane Rossiter, 93, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at home in South Plainfield, NJ.

Born in Johnstown, PA, to the late Raymond and Iva Roberts, Jane and her family relocated to Milltown, NJ when she was young, and it was here, she and her 5 siblings grew up.  After marrying her late husband, Paul J. Rossiter, Jr. the two settled in Springfield NJ where they raised their four children.  Jane remained here for over 60 years.  In 2021, she moved to South Plainfield, NJ and has lived there since.

An active member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Millburn NJ for over 65 years, Jane has volunteered for various events, including food banks, soup kitchens and as a greeter.  She was also a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Jane will also be remembered for her love of baking.  Over the years, her baking has left a mark on family and friends, not only because of the quality of her baked goods, but because of the memories made. Whether it was starting Christmas cookies in October or her famous crumb and fudge marble cake, memories made in the house will be shared for generations for to come.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Paul J. Rossiter, Jr., son Michael Rossiter Sr., five siblings and son in law Mark Dorio, Jane is survived by her children; Thomas Rossiter and his wife Patti, Terri Wilkinson and her husband Stan, and Lois Dorio; and grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle, Ed, Michael Jr., Katelyn, Melissa, Nick, and James.   She will also be missed by her great grandchildren Chloe, Mayla, Callan, Tristsan and Hazel; daughter in law Karen and a host of extended relatives and friends.

Funeral service at 11 AM, June 7, 2025 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 119 Main Street, Millburn, NJ.

Following the service a celebration of life will be held in the Church’s Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the Rossiter family has asked for donations to be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 119 Main Street, Millburn, New Jersey 07041 or Hackensack Hospice, 65 James Street, Edison, New Jersey 08820, in Jane’s name.
