

Obituary of Arthur Demegillo
Arturo “Arthur” Ilisan Demegillo, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in Anchorage, Alaska.
Born in Iloilo, Philippines, to the late Salvacion and Mauricio Demegillo, Arthur immigrated to the United States, and settled in South Plainfield in 1973, where he has been a longtime resident. Since 2007, Arthur has spent the winter months at his home in Augusta, GA.
In 1973, Arthur began his career at LCP in Linden, NJ, as a Chemical Operator, until 1975, when he became a Research Chemist for Union Carbide, in Bound Brook. In 2003, he retired after 28 years.
A member of the Highland Park Lions Club, Arthur served as the Region Chairman; he was a member of the Piscataway Knights of Columbus, and the President of the University of St. Augustine Alumni Association. He enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, golf, and tennis, and loved doing crossword puzzles in his leisure time.
Arthur will be deeply missed by his wife of 52 years, Susie (nee Mirasol) Demegillo; brothers, Elde Demegillo, of Iloilo, Philippines, Winnie Demegillo, of Piscataway, NJ, Virgilio Demegillo and his wife Mae, of Palm Coast, FL, and Neri Demegillo and his wife Leorina of Guimaras, Philippines; and sisters, Merla Graff of Palm Coast, FL, and Bebina Faigal and her husband Peter, of Palm Coast, FL. He will also be missed by his thirteen nieces and nephews, and fifteen great nieces and great nephews, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
Arthur is predeceased by his parents; his brother Elde’s late wife Myrna; his brother Winnies late wife Loly; and his sister Merla’s late husband Bill.
Visitations will be held at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM and on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, 120 Kosciusko Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home prior to mass, beginning at 9 AM.
Following mass, cremation services will be held privatley, inurnment of Arturo’s cremated remains will take place at Resurrection Burial Park, 899 E. Lincoln Avenue, Piscataway, NJ, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the Demegillo family has requested that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, in Arthur’s name.
