

Obituary of David N. Summers
Bound Brook, NJ – David N. Summers, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital – Somerville.
Born in New Brunswick, NJ, to the late Charles and Nancy Summers, David grew up in Monroe, graduating from Monroe High School. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. where he served for six years.
Following his honorable discharge, David began working in the electrical supply industry. Working for various companies, before becoming an electrician for Dougheim Electric Inc. in Bridgewater, David ultimately started a career with the Raritan Township Municipal Utilities Authority in 2023, where he has worked since.
David cherished his time with his wife, Dawn, and their dogs, Matches and Paisley. Together, the two would often golf, a game David was passionate about, or spend time cooking or grilling, which was often times accompanied by dancing and their favorite music.
Building on the life of service he started when he was younger, David found a home in the fire house. Over the years he has been a member of the Somerville Volunteer Fire Department, the Bound Brook Volunteer Fire Department, and most recently, the Somerset Fire and Rescue where he was Deputy Chief. Here, he had a deep passion for the Heavy Rescue and Dive operations.
Predeceased by his parents, and siblings, Sondia Summers and Charles Summers, David will be deeply missed by his wife, Dawn (nee Anderson) Summers; and siblings, Jimmie Summers and his wife Clara, Debby Stuart, and Charles’ wife Tricia Summers. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jimmie Summers Jr, his wife Melissa and their daughter Rhyan, Chaslyn, Jeremy,his wife Rose and their children, Samara, Amaya, and Jeremiah, Emily, Zachary, and Zeb; Mother and father-in-law, Patricia and Brian Anderson, and brother-in-law, Paul Anderson and his wife Joan, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A fireman’s service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, June 23, 2025, beginning at 7:30 PM.
Cremation services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the Summers family has requested that donations be made to the Kelsey Charity Run Inc. or the National Fallen Fighters Foundation, in David’s name.
