Obituary of Charles D. Knehr, Sr.
Charles Knehr 83 (9/12/1941)
Passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Born in Newark to the late Charles and Emma Knehr, Charles was a longtime resident of Middlesex, NJ.
A proud United States Army veteran, Charles faithfully served our country actively from 1965 to 1968 and in the reserves from 1968 to 1972 during the Vietnam Era, for a country he loved deeply. Charles retired from the Exxon Refinery in Linden. He was also a man of many passions. He especially loved his family, trips to the casino, and had a deep interest in the stock market and real estate investments. A car enthusiast, Charles owned a 1965 Impala and a 1964 Corvette, and was a proud member of the River Road Rat Pack.
He was predeceased by his son, Danny McCutchen, in 2011, and by his brothers, Alan and Robert Knehr.
Charles leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol (MacDonald) Knehr, and his children: Jeffrey McCutchen, Deborah Gilroy, Chuck Knehr, Douglas Knehr, and Matthew Knehr. He will be deeply missed by his extended family Patrick Gilroy, Jody Knehr, Adria Knehr, Lindsey Knehr, and by his grandchildren, Danielle (Danny), JP, Sonny, Samantha, Jillian, Aiden, Callie, and Lincoln, as well as his three great-grandchildren: Veronica, Dominic, and Gia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial gathering on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 4pm to 6pm, with concluding prayers and the rendering of Military Honors at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846.
