South Plainfield, NJ – Charles M. Huber, 68, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at home in South Plainfield.
Born in Bayshore, Long Island to John and Ann Huber, Charlie grew up in Pompton Plains, graduating from Pequannock Township High School. Furthering his education, he attended Rutgers University where he attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. In 1989, he married Maria Formica, and the two briefly lived in East Windsor before settling in South Plainfield where they have lived since.
Charlie was an active member of the community. He regularly attended mass at Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield, where he served as a lector. He was also a member of the Finance Council. Charlie spent many years coaching and umpiring his sons as a member of the South Plainfield Jr. Baseball Club. He also served on the Board and was a member of the Rules committee.
In his spare time, Charlie loved to tend his vegetable garden, read, spend time on the golf course, or play fantasy football. He loved watching the New York Yankees, Giants, and Rangers. Charlie was also an avid traveler and took many trips with his wife Maria. He also enjoyed playing cards. Charlie would play cribbage with his own father and eventually his sons, Skip-Bo with his wife, and occasionally host a poker night for friends.
Charlie loved to cook. He would often find new recipes to try, doing his best to not repeat meals. Whether it was tomato sauce from the tomatoes he grew or a recipe he found on Pinterest, his meals will be missed by those who had the pleasure of trying them.
For over 16 years, Charlie worked for AM Best Rating Services, Inc. in Oldwick, NJ. Here he worked his way up to a Director, before retiring in 2019.
Predeceased by his father, John Huber, and sister, Patricia Sepello, Charlie will be deeply missed by his wife of 36 years, Maria (nee Formica) Huber; children, Theresa Smith and her husband Kyle, Charles J Huber and his wife Crystal, and Nicholas Huber; and grandchildren, Julianna and Charles B. Huber. He is also survived by his mother, Ann (nee Bidwell) Huber and siblings, John, Catherine, Peter, and Barbara, along with a host of extended relatives and friends
