Obituary of John Crearer
John Frederick Crearer, loving father, and friend, passed away at 72 years young, due to congestive heart failure, in the afternoon of July 31st, 2025. John was born on September 22nd, 1952, in Montego Bay Jamaica, West Indies, to Ouida Bernard and Lawrence Crearer. John was raised by his devoted grandmother, Mavis Esmeralda McKenzie and lived alongside his aunts and uncles.
As a boy, John attended Sudbury primary school in Montego Bay where he was a part of the 4H club, a nationwide group highlighting youth involvement in agriculture. John raised a calf and presented the cow at the Denbigh show ground in Clarendon and then passed along the offspring of his cow to another youth in the 4H club. John furthered his education at Montego Bay technical high school. Afterwards, John began working with the Ministry of Construction and Planning as a civil engineering draftsman. He represented his organization at the University of West Indies Chess Open and placed first in a competition against other corporate players.
John arrived in the United States in 1986 at 34 years of age. He worked as a commercial truck operator at Roma Foods for over 30 years. In New Jersey, he met his life partner, Audrea Manning and the two shared a home with their three children. Outside of the long hours he spent driving, John found joy in reggae music, cooking, and spending quality time with family. In his free time, he played both chess and dominoes, where he was nearly impossible to beat. During domino games, he would make you cry with laughter and hand you a 6-0 at the same time.
His journey on this earth was one marked by love, laughter, and unwavering faith in God. John will be remembered not by the way his life ended, but the way it was lived. He had a rare gift for making others laugh and bringing joy to any room.
John’s life has left a lasting impact on his friends, family, and many more that live to remember the humorous and kindhearted nature of John. He is survived by his partner Audrea, his siblings Karlene, Sonya, Simone, Andrea, and Stevie, and his children, Marsha, Tamica, Tremaine, Jade, Adeja, John, and Jolea. John also leaves behind a large and loving extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
To know John was to laugh with him, to feel welcomed by him, and to leave his presence a little lighter than you came. His life was a blessing, and his memory will be cherished forever.
