
Obituary of Irma Coca De Ramos
Irma Coca De Ramos, 77, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
Born in Ambato, Ecuador, to the late Alejandro Coca and Luz Proaño Coca, Irma was raised in Ecuador before immigrating to the United States where she lived in New York for several years, followed by California, before settling in New Jersey, where she has been a longtime resident.
Irma initially worked for Kids R Us, before opening her own Bakery, Panderia Ambanita, on North Avenue in Plainfield, which she owned for over 20 years. She also most recently owned and operated a restaurant, Irma’s Restaurant, located on Park Avenue in Plainfield, for over 10 years.
A true people person, Irma loved to help and interact with those around her, she was a true giver. All that knew her, loved her and will deeply miss her, as she touched all of her many friends, customers, and most of all, family members.
Predeceased by her husband, Carlos Ramos and son, Mike Ramos, Irma will be deeply missed by her children, Nelly (Franklin) Ramos, Joffre (Nancy) Ramos, Carlos (Arlyne) Ramos, Jr., and Patricia (Edisson) Calucho. She will also be missed by her 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 5 PM – 9 PM.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s RC Church, 516 W 6th St, Plainfield, NJ, on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 10:30 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home prior to mass, beginning at 9 AM.
Following mass, burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the Coca De Ramos Family has asked that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Irma’s name, a cause close to her heart.
