Obituary of Harrison Scott Sr.
Harrison Scott Sr.
December 12, 1933 – August 7, 2025
Harrison Scott Sr., a man whose smile could light up a room and whose humor could spark joy in the toughest of times, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, at the age of 91.
Born on December 12, 1933, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Harrison’s life was rooted in love, faith, and the simple pleasures that brought him the greatest happiness.
Harrison was never one to sit still for long. He built a lifetime of hard work behind the wheel—driving tractor trailers and buses as well as taking a shot at entrepreneurship by running his own cleaning business. But his true calling wasn’t just in the work he did; it was in the people he met, the laughter he shared, and the countless moments he created for others along the way.
A proud member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Harrison lived his faith fiercely and deeply, showing it through acts of kindness, generosity, and a willingness to help others. Outside of work and church, you could often find him with a fishing pole in hand or tending to his garden—simple joys that reflected his appreciation for life’s steady rhythms.
Harrison’s sense of humor was as much a part of him as the twinkle in his eye. Whether sharing a story, cracking a joke, or lifting someone’s spirits, he had a way of making you feel welcome, seen, and loved.
He leaves behind a legacy of family who adored him: his sons Harrison Jr., Anthony, and Donald; his daughter Angela; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his sister, Pearl Atkinson. Harrison is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Frances, his parents Leonard and Maggie (Moore) Scott, and his seven brothers and sisters who preceded him in death.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Harrison’s life at Shiloh Baptist Church, on Thursday, August 14, 2025. The visitation will begin at 4pm followed the funeral service beginning at 5pm. His memory will live on in the laughter of his family, the stories that will be told for generations, and the gardens that continue to grow in his honor.
