Obituary of Steven J Turner
Middlesex, NJ – Steven J. Turner, 85, passed away unexpectedly & peacefully in his sleep Tuesday Morning, August 12, 2025, at his home in Middlesex.
Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, Steve spent most of his early years in New Brunswick, until he met Kathleen Harabin, who he would go on to marry. The two settled in Middlesex, where they raised their two children, and have been residents for over 50 years.
A machinist by trade, Steve has held positions with various companies, including Airtron in Morris Plains, a subdivision of Litton Industries, where he worked his way to a managerial position, and Accuratus Corporation in Phillipsburg, where he retired from on December 10, 2016, at 77 years old.
Outside of work, he was a Jack of All Trades, able to fix anything he needed to. Of the many skills he had, Steve was partial to computer work. Whether it was burning movies not yet ready for release for his friends and family, or making designs on Auto Cad, both for work post retirement and for fun, he could often be found working on his computer. He also had a passion for photography. Through the years, Steve became the family photographer, shooting life events from weddings, to proms, to birthday parties, and more. With what seemed like a lifetime of photographs, Steve had just finished converting his many years of 30 MM slides to digital versions, and was enjoying making slide shows and videos with the pictures he had.
Simply put, Steve was a good man, however that does not do justice to the love, support, and kindness he showed to those closest to him over the years. He will forever be remembered by those around him as someone who would do anything for them. But most importantly, Steve will be remembered as the greatest husband, father, and grandfather his family could ask for.
Predeceased by his daughter, Kelly Turner. Steve will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen (Harabin) Turner, and son, Brian Turner and his wife Melissa. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Sarah Kasar, Torey Kasar, and Norah Turner; son in law Bertram Kasar, Jr., and a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ, on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM.
A prayer services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 7:30 PM, followed by Military Honors.
Cremation services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the Turner family has requested that donations be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, in Steve’s name.
