Audrey Ann Mohwinkle, 83, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Arista Care at Norwood Terrace, in Plainfield.

Born in Plainfield to the late Michael and Alice Vakerich, Audrey was a lifelong resident of Edison, attending Oak Tree School in her younger years and settling in town in 1961, with her husband Norman E. Mohwinkle.

Audrey will be remembered for her love of animals, especially her cats, Houdini, Lucky, Smoky and Bandit.

Predeceased by her husband, Norman E. Mohwinkle, son Norman M. Mohwinkle, and sister, Audrey is survived by her brother, Michael Vakerich, and nieces, nephew and cousins; Carolyn Decotiis, Cara Voutsas, Chester S. Wans, Eileen Matarazzo, Charlene Applegate, John Vakerich, Joseph Vakerich, Wendy, Jay, Michael Pellegrino, and Marie Eodice.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 10 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home prior to mass, beginning at 8:45 AM.

Following mass, burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Audrey’s name sent to the Edison Animal Shelter would be appreciated.
