Obituary of Joann I Yonker
Please share a memory of Joann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JoAnn I. Yonker, 58, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Plainfield to the late Joseph and Irene Buccellato, JoAnn was raised in Watchung. A talented All-American swimmer, she competed for Union Catholic High School and won 2 State Championships before she continued her athletic pursuits at Villanova University.
Later in life, JoAnn settled in Middlesex Borough, where she found joy in raising her two children.
JoAnn worked as an Administrative Manager for Metuchen Cardiology for the past 25 years, where she made many memories and friends. JoAnn's coworkers say she was the glue to the practice and she will be greatly missed.
A devoted mother, JoAnn cherished her family and embraced all the responsibilities of motherhood. She always went above and beyond for her children, whether it was taking them on vacations or showing up to their sporting events, she was always involved. This past Thanksgiving, JoAnn and her children were able to go to their favorite vacation spot in Hershey, PA and spend the holiday together as a family. It was very important to JoAnn to see her children graduate college, and she was able to do so in May 2025, where she watched them both walk across the stage. She spent her last few months preparing them for their first steps of adulthood. JoAnn was also a passionate cat lover, caring for her five beloved cats with great affection.
JoAnn is survived by her two children, Kristen and Kenneth Yonker. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Private funeral services will be held.
