Obituary of Robert T Bjornsen, Jr.
Robert T. Bjornsen, Jr., 82, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Fox Trail Memory Care in South River, NJ.
Born in Metuchen, NJ to the late Robert and Arlene Bjornsen, Robert was raised in Piscataway. Following his graduation from Middlesex County VoTech, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While enlisted he flew as a navigator, working with pilots while they flew reconnaissance missions overseas. When he wasn’t deployed, he was stationed in Cape Cod at Otis Air Force Base in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, he was honorably discharged after 6 years of service.
It was during his time in the Air Force that Robert gained most of his technical training and education. It was with this knowledge that he began his career as a mechanical engineer for electronics. After his discharge, he began working with Cape and Vineyard Electric Cooperative in Cape Cod, but then transferred to Lockheed Electronics, which later became Lockheed Martin. Lockheed was the beginning of a long career in the electronics field. He worked in sales for Fujipoly America Corporation in Kenilworth, NJ. Although he was in sales, he was often called upon to help diagnose and service the parts he was selling, drawing on his expansive knowledge and abilities he had developed over the years. In 2007, Robert retired after over 29 years with Fujipoly.
Outside of work, he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed taking his boat out to fish, often taking weekend trips with his late wife, Sandra, or going hunting, most times accompanied by his late father and brothers. He also found joy in bowling, and watching NASCAR, something that became a Sunday ritual when the races were on. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, who meant the world to him.
Robert is predeceased by his wife, Sandra (Pease) Bjornsen; daughter, Dawn Bjornsen; and his parents, Robert and Arlene Bjornsen. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Jo-Ellen Snyder; granddaughters, Ashley Snyder and Jamie Poon and her husband Jonathan; and great grandchildren, Brooke Scolnick, Lorelei Bracaloni, Makenzie Bracaloni, and Elena Poon. He is also survived by his sister, Arlene Dolegiewitz and her husband Edward; brothers, Donald Bjornsen and his wife Terri and Kenneth Bjornsen and his wife Carol, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
