Josephine H. “Josie” Amorosi, passed way at the remarkable age of 110. Born on South Plainfield’s King Court, Josie was the third of eight siblings. She spent her early years in North Plainfield before making Sunrise, Florida, her home in 1974, where she built a life filled with love, friendship, and community.
Each July, Josey eagerly returned to her beloved New Jersey home, cherishing the chance to reunite with her growing family.
A true enthusiast, Josie became a Bingo fanatic, playing every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until just a week prior to her passing. The friendships she made through her love of the game brought her great joy. An avid reader, she read several novels each week and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, maintaining her sharp mind and curiosity well into her later years.
In 2023, just days before her 109th birthday, Josie received heartfelt proclamations from Governor Ron DeSantis and President Donald Trump in recognition of her extraordinary lifespan and inspiring spirit. She lived independently in Florida, managing her daily routines—laundry, cooking, and cleaning—with grace and independence. Her mental acuity remained impressive, and she continued walking unaided, embodying resilience and vitality.
Predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Amorosi; son, Robert Amorosi and daughter in law, Maureen Amorosi; and great-grandson Luke Simon. Surviving are her son, Donald Amorosi and his wife Dorothy; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
