Roberta J. Schrader, 89, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025 in Brick, NJ. Roberta was born on December 12, 1935 in Plainfield, NJ to Joseph and Rose Vittor. She was the Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ.
Roberta was an active member of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Piscataway from 1971-1998. Presently she was a Parishioner at the Catholic Community of Saint Mary of the Lake Church after moving to Lakewood, NJ. She was very active in her Catholic Faith, becoming an active member of Legion of Mary, and Co-founding the local food bank and her Church, along with making hand knitted hats, scarves and blankets for the poor and homeless. Along with making homemade Rosary beads for Father Marion for the Bishops trip to Cuba. Roberta's inspiration for doing all this was being born on The Feast of Guadalupe Day and her devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary which led to her pilgrimage to Medjugorje, to where she found her Spiritual purpose in life.
She was an active traveler, she traveled to Europe, Italy, Germany, Hawaii, she did numerous cruises with her husband Bill to the Caribbean.
She will always be remembered for her love of gardening, especially her beloved tea cup roses. Also accompanied by her love for football on Saturdays and Sundays (especially Patrick Mahomes), while surrounded by her love of her candles and turtles that were decorated on her tables and shelves.
Roberta is predeceased by her beloved husband Wilbert, her dear siblings Lillian, Kitty and James, and her cherished granddaughter Victoria. Loving sister to Rose and Thomas Vittor. She is survived by her loving children Lynn DeStefano and her husband Vincent, Sr., Donna Shanosky and her husband Kevin and Paul Schrader and his Fiance Lori Rack. (Caregiver for Mom) Proud Grandmother to Vincent, Krisitn, Peter, Brittany, Michael and Andrew, Great Grandmother to Samuel (Davd Halpern Father) . She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation for Roberta at the Piscataway Funeral Home 18 Stelton Road Piscataway, NJ 08846 on Monday, October 20, 2025 from 8:45am-10am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following the visitation at 10:30am in St. Frances Cabrini R.C. Church 208 Bound Brook Avenue Piscataway, NJ 08854. Roberta’s family will accompany her to her final resting place at Resurrection Burial Park Mausoleum, East Lincoln Avenue and Hoes Lane, Piscataway, NJ.
