Lillian Rose Castellano Cosenza


April 9, 1935 – October 16, 2025


Lillian Rose (Castellano) Cosenza, 90, of South Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in her home on October 16, 2025. Born in Manhattan on April 9, 1935, she was the daughter of Rose and Desiderio Castellano.


Lillian married Vito Cosenza, who served in the United States Army as an Army Ranger during the Korean War. They moved to South Plainfield in 1973, where they raised their family. 


She worked for many years at the Metuchen Country Club, where she was a valued and dedicated employee. Lillian especially enjoyed spending time with her family and took great pride in caring for her grandchildren.


She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vito Cosenza, and her brother, Sal Castellano.


She is survived by daughters, Janet Cosenza and Karen Plasse and husband, Glenn; her sister, Frances Frattini, and her husband, Al; her sister-in-law, Elaine Castellano; her nephew, Stephen Frattini, and his wife, Shan; and their children, Marco and Cora.


She will be deeply missed by her six grandchildren: Lindsay Vito and husband Michael, Elyse Phillips and husband Stephen, Jenna Del Colle and husband Brian, Matthew Kanaley and wife Mackenzie, Melissa Dispenziere and husband Michael, and Alexa Plasse; as well as five great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Bryce, Avery, Madison, and Michael.


 


Funeral services are private and under the direction of the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
