Harrison, ME – Helen A. Lissy, 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Woodlands Memory Care of Bridgton, in Bridgton, ME.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Robert and Anna Neal, Helen resided in Bayonne before settling in South Plainfield, where she lived most of her life. More recently, she has settled in Harrison, ME, where she has resided for the last year.
Graduating from Fairleigh Dickenson University with a Degree in Nursing, Helen worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Barnabas Hospital in Newark, NJ, and later, JFK Medical Center in Edison, where she worked for 27 years on the orthopedics floor
Helen passions included her two sons, taking care of her family, attending church at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in South Plainfield where she was involved with the ladies group the Luther- Annes.
Predeceased by her husband, Wernfried “Fred” Lissy, Helen is survived by her two sons, David Lissy and his wife Annette, and Daniel Lissy and his wife Sheri; and grandson, Eric Lissy and his wife Tasha, and her two great grandchildren Benjamin and Cameron, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funeral, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A funeral service will be held in St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3145 Park Ave, South Plainfield, NJ, on Tuesday, November 25, at 10 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 9 AM.
Following the funeral service, burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
