Richard P. Nieliwocki Obituary

Richard “Dick” Nieliwocki, 92, passed away in the Middlesex, New Jersey home he lovingly built and cared for—a home where he and his beloved wife, Charlotte, raised their five children, welcomed grandchildren, and shared more than 60 years of deep, unwavering love.

Born and raised in Middlesex, Dick was a lifelong resident whose roots ran as deep as the community he cherished. He lived independently right up until his passing. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Charlotte; his mother, Anne Marzenaski; his sister, Eleanor Danko-Koehler; and his brothers, Raymond and Edward Nieliwocki.

Dick is survived by his five children, who brought him immense pride:

Jane and husband Chris Conrad of Cape Coral, FL; Patricia Nieliwocki of Fort Myers, FL; Richard and wife Marianne Nieliwocki of Middlesex, NJ; Kathryn and husband Pierce Frauenheim of Green Brook, NJ; and Thomas Nieliwocki of Chatham, NJ.

He leaves behind twelve grandchildren, each the light of his life—Christopher Conrad, Jeanette and husband Thomas Furio, Pierce Frauenheim III, Alexander Nieliwocki, Alycia Conrad, Kayla Frauenheim and fiancé Brian Delanoy, Emily and husband Brandon Slover, Kyle and Patrick Frauenheim, and Chloe, Lily, and Griffin Nieliwocki.

Known affectionately as “Dickie,” he lived a life marked by love, service, mischief, faith, and family. He possessed a natural gift for humor and a heart big enough to hold every one of his children and grandchildren. Whether inventing nicknames for everyone or teaching the grandkids his playful made-up language, Dickie infused joy into the simplest moments.

His home was his sanctuary. Summer afternoons were spent in Grandpa’s pool, and his July birthday became the family’s annual reason to gather from near and far. He took pride in every inch of his property, his impressive garden, his immaculate yard, and the long driveway he continued to snow-blow himself well into his nineties.

A proud Marine veteran, Dick embodied commitment and honor throughout his life. In his later years, he found camaraderie at the American Legion in Middlesex. He was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish, where he worshiped for decades and celebrated countless family milestones.

Dick was a talented and dedicated carpenter, proudly serving in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 455. His craftsmanship lives on in projects across New Jersey, including the Bridgewater Commons Mall and Immaculata High School. Yet his grandchildren would say his finest accomplishments were the personalized touches he created just for them—refinished furniture for college dorm rooms, handcrafted whirligigs for the yard, puzzles, and small keepsakes that made them feel endlessly loved.

Above all, Dick was devoted to family. When Charlotte suffered an injury later in life, he remained faithfully by her side every single day until her passing in 2018. Their love, steady, and lifelong—was the foundation of everything he held dear.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM at Middlesex Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 10AM in Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. Family and friends may gather in the funeral home at 9AM.

Dick leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, humor, and devotion. His presence will be missed immeasurably, but the stories, lessons, and laughter he shared will be carried forward for generations.
