Obituary of William George Green
William George Green, known as Bill to his friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 5, 2025, in Durham, North Carolina. Born on February 27, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, Bill lived his life as a loving, generous, and self-disciplined gentleman with unwavering commitment to his family and church.
Bill enlisted in the Army at age 19 and proudly served with the 82 Airborne Division until his honorable discharge as Sargent and Jump Master in 1952. With a wife, young children, and a full-time job, he studied part-time for seven years to earn a degree in business management from Rutgers University. In 1985, he retired as International Distribution Manager after a 33 year-career with Union Carbide. He then became a teacher in Middlesex NJ.
A man of faith and devotion, Bill was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bound Brook, New Jersey, from 1954 until his relocation to North Carolina in 2020. He served his church in numerous capacities, including on the Vestry and as Senior Warden, Acolyte, Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Finance Committee Chair.
Bill contributed to his local community through youth sports where he served as President of the Middlesex Little League, and as a co-founder and Conference President of Pop Warner Football, helping to enrich the lives of young athletes.
Bill’s greatest joy was in gathering family around the table to share food, wine, and storytelling. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Annabelle, and is survived by his sister, Valerie Thompson; his children - Bill, Kathy, Lisa, and Aimee; grandchildren – Michael, Emily, David, Maxie, Mitchell, Ethan, and Danielle; and three great-granddaughters – Annabelle, Vera, and Alice.
