Obituary of Evelyn Mae Simanski
South Plainfield - Evelyn Mae Simanski, 85, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Our Mom, Grandma and Gram loved us unconditionally.
Born in Pennsylvania to the late Clyde and Erma Davis, Evelyn’s life was marked by her devotion to family and faith. She and her late husband, Ralph, settled in South Plainfield in 1974 where they built a life together with their 3 children. Evelyn was a homemaker first, then she returned to work at James Anthony Hair Salon as a beautician and then Johnson & Johnson in their cafeteria and Executive Guest House. Evelyn was very active with a full life of going on vacations with her family, gardening, working outside and baking. She baked all the desserts for every event, ensuring there was always something sweet for everyone. Every school year, she would take all the grandkids to Stan’s Shoe Shack in Bound Brook to get new school shoes. Evelyn enjoyed going on adventures with her family. She was also very active in her community with the South Plainfield Senior Center participating in yoga and healthy bones with her good friend Lieke.
Predeceased by her husband who died in 1997, Ralph Simanski. Surviving are her three children, Penny Simanski-McCoy, Roger and Barbara Simanski and Pamela and Jamie Bowser. She will also be missed by her seven grandchildren: Nicolas and Lisa McCoy, Samantha and Scott Snell, Ian McCoy, James Bowser, Matthew McCoy, Kelsey and Elijah Wortman and Christopher Bowser (Steve Friscia) and her eight great-grandchildren: Aleigha, Ivette, Roman, Katherina, Isaac, Declan, Nolan & Connell.
She was generous and loving (with a bit of sass). Every day we will think of her and every day we will feel the unconditional love that she gave to us.
