
Obituary of Henrietta B. Blondo
Edison – Henrietta Blondo, 93, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park in Edison.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1931, “Rita” immigrated to the United States in 1955 living in Jamaica, Queens. She married her late husband Joseph in January 1967, renting an apartment in Canarsie, Brooklyn where her son Joe was born in 1969. The family moved to Budd Lake, NJ in 1975. Both Joseph and Rita relocated into the NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park in 2021, with Joseph passing in 2024.
Rita was one of eight children born to Annabelle and William Kennedy. She is predeceased by her sisters Jean, Mary, and Margaret and her brothers James, John, Robert, and William. Rita is survived by her son, Joseph Blondo, and her niece and nephew Linda Brown and Thomas Junior and their children, Michael (Brown), John (Junior) and his wife Nicole (and their beautiful daughter Quinn), William (Junior), and Tommy (Junior.) She was also a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews on her husband’s side of the family.
Rita was very proud of her Scottish heritage and enjoyed singing and dancing in her younger days. She also became an avid bingo player which she continued doing as a resident in the Veterans Home.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 4-7 PM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080.
Entombment is being held Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 11am at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, NJ.
