Obituary of Nikolaos G. Siliverdis

Nikolaos Siliverdis, 88, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025.      

Nikolaos was born in Arginia, Kefallonia, Greece to Gerasimos and Stamatoula Siliverdis; he immigrated to the United States in December of 1954 with his father.  They opened the Siliverdis Greenhouse which they ran for eight successful years. On August 1, 1965, he married the love of his life, the late Regina Tarazi and together they raised three wonderful girls, Toula, Memi, and Dimitra.  

Nikolaos owned and operated several successful diners throughout his life. In 1968, he purchased his first diner, the West End Diner, also known as the Golden Dream. Five years later, he acquired the Golden Triangle Diner, which later became the Raritan Manor. In 1990, he purchased the Suburban Diner, and in 1999, the Menlo Park Diner, each reflecting his passion for hospitality and community.

Though he spent many years in the United States, Nikolaos never lost his love for his hometown, where he enjoyed spending summers. He had a passion for gardening and treasured every moment spent with his family.

Nikolaos is predeceased by his wife, Regina Siliverdis; brother, Theodore Siliverdis and brother in law, Gus Papahanges.

Surviving are his three daughters and spouses; Toula and Vageli Hionis, Memi and Yanni Diamantis, and Dimitra and Stelios Mitossis along with his six grandchildren; Mike, Nicholas (Shannon), Regina (Salvatore), Irene (Kyle), Yanni, and George and great grandchild, Luciano Anthony.

He will also be missed by his siblings, Simon Siliverdis and wife Aglaia, Maria Papahanges, Eleni Diagelakis and husband Aristidis and Dionisios Siliverdis and wife Eleni and sister-in-law, Sue Siliverdis.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 10-11AM in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1101 River Road Piscataway NJ 08854.  Mass will follow at 11AM.

Burial will follow in Bound Brook Cemetery, Bound Brook.
