
Obituary of Scott Thomas Waters
Scott T. Waters, 63, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Thomas and Paula Waters, Scot grew up in Bloomingdale, NJ, West New York, NJ, and Butler, NJ, graduating from Butler High School, Class of 1980. Scott then went on to study Biology at Bethany College in West Virginia, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree, and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. He then began his career in the Bio Medical field working for various firms under various positions, most recently as a Quality Assurance Agent.
Not long after graduating college, he met Patti Campanelli, the two married in 1990, and settled in South Plainfield, where they raised their two children.
Throughout the years, Scott was active in the Boy Scouts, serving as the Cub Scout Pack Master of Pack 324 and Boy Scout Assistant Scout Master for Troop 309, the South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club, the South Plainfield High School Marching Band, and briefly the Knights of Columbus.
Scott was an avid sports fan, playing basketball during most of his younger years, and often rooting for the New York Giants, New York Yankees, and New York Rangers, but also cheered on the New Jersey Devils. He had a knack for fixing things, always enjoyed fixing things, but most of all loved to help others.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Patricia (nee Campanelli) Waters and Parents, Thomas and Paula Waters, Scott is survived by his children, Matthew Waters and Stephanie (Elle) Waters. He will also be missed by his sister, Sharon McCabe and her husband Bernard; nieces, Heather Leavy and her husband Thomas and Shannon McCabe; and nephew, Kevin McCabe, as well as a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, 120 Kosciusko Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 10 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home prior to mass, beginning at 9 AM.
Following mass, entombment will take place at Resurrection Burial Park, 899 E. Lincoln Avenue, Piscataway, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the Waters Family has requested that donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation in Scott's name.
