Obituary of Edwin Berame Fernandez

Edwin Berame Fernandez, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, in Somerset, New Jersey. He was born on May 16, 1952, in the Philippines, to the late Belino and Restituta Fernandez.

Edwin dedicated many years of service to healthcare as a vascular technologist at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was deeply committed to his profession and took great pride in helping others through his work.

He was the beloved husband of Ida Fernandez, with whom he shared 38 devoted years of marriage. Edwin was a loving and devoted father to his daughter, Apple Fernandez, and his sons: Ian Fernandez and his wife Michele, Marwin Fernandez and his wife Jennifer, Ted Fernandez and his wife Suzette, and Gevril Fernandez. His greatest joy was his family, whom he loved deeply and unconditionally.

Edwin is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Chezka, Landon, Kai, Blake, Isla, and Koa, who brought him immense happiness. He is further survived by his sisters, Bebeca and her husband Danny and their children, and Claudia and her husband Jesus and their children. He also leaves behind his beloved niece Geralen and cousin Hiroshi, along with many extended family members and friends.

A man of strong faith, Edwin had a deep devotion to Jesus Nazareno, which guided him throughout his life and provided him comfort and strength. In his leisure time, he enjoyed sports, particularly horse racing, basketball, and football.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation services at the Piscataway Funeral Home, Piscataway, New Jersey, on Monday, January 12, 2026, and Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 5 pm to 8 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 10 am at St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, Piscataway, New Jersey. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park Mausoleum, Piscataway, New Jersey.
