Obituary of Barry J Michalak
Barry Joseph Michalak, 74, of Readington Township, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Flemington, New Jersey.
Barry was born on December 5, 1951, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, to the late Anthony and Agnes Michalak. He was raised in New Jersey and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, New Jersey in 1969 and then went on to pursue higher education, earning his Doctorate in Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Sciences.
Barry devoted his professional life to the field of pharmacy, serving his community as a pharmacist with CVS at various locations throughout the state, ending his career in Flemington, New Jersey. Through his 42 years of service, he provided care and guidance to countless patients.
Above all, Barry was a devoted and beloved husband to his wife, Sherry D. Michalak (Schmidt). He was a loving father to Jessica Michalak and her fiancé Michael Higgins; Ashley Green; and Brooke Mazellan and her husband, Jack. He was a proud grandfather to Anthony, Madison, Mason, Aubrey, Emma, and Scarlett.
Barry is also survived by his sister, Carol Galinsky and her husband, Alan; his niece and nephew, Kimberly; Matthew and his wife, Tonya; and their son, Theodore.
In his leisure time, Barry was an avid news watcher and enjoyed golf, fly fishing, football, gardening, reading, working, and racing cars.
Family and friends are invited to attend a wake on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 4-7 pm. at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, New Jersey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 10am at Church of the Sacred Heart, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, New Jersey. Interment will follow at Lake Nelson Memorial Park in Piscataway, New Jersey.
