Obituary of Robert Carmen Ventimiglia
Robert Ventimiglia, beloved son of Anthony and Millie Ventimiglia of Westfield, passed away peacefully at 84 years young following a brief stay at Serenity Hospice, surrounded by loved ones.
Robert lived a full, active, and deeply meaningful life. A proud patriot, he served in the United States Navy in the early 1960s for four years. He was a devoted Yankees fan and a man who could fix just about anything—truly a brilliant mechanic. Robert loved the ocean, spending countless happy hours fishing from his boat, and he remained an avid skier well into his 75th year.
He worked for over 35 years at Nokia as a Plant Watch Operator, a job he genuinely loved. During that time, he also proudly served as President of his Union. Even after retirement, Robert stayed busy, working part-time for Avis and Napa. His hands were rarely still—he built furniture, completely refurbished his home and yard by himself, and delighted in making birdhouses.
Above all else, Robert loved his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Frew Ventimiglia, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. They were sweethearts since their senior year at Westfield High School. He also leaves behind his three children: Tracy (Brian) Jarvis, James (Pam DeMaio) Ventimiglia, and Kimberly (Rob) Barrios.
Robert was a proud Grandfather to Michele Beirne, D’kota (Nick) Fabian, Amanda Ventimiglia, Brianna Ventimiglia, Ashley (Marcus) Trevis, and Robert James Barrios. He was blessed with two beautiful great-granddaughters, Lily and Mia Fabian, and a great-grandson on the way, Nico Fabian—whom he wished he could have met and the one who carried us through his illness and on his last journey to peace his much loved Niece Denise Ventimiglia. Robert will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him, for as long as we live.
