
Obituary of Marie T. Lacey
Marie T. Lacey, 74, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville.
Born in November 1951 on the SS America at sea, Marie was the daughter of immigrants traveling to the United States from Ireland. She resided most of her life in Plainfield before settling to Green Brook after her retirement. She attended Union County College and started her career with Lockheed Electronics. Marie was a dedicated professional, retiring as a project manager from Novartis.
A devout Catholic, Marie was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin, where she was vice president of the Rosarians, active in their monthly movie and usher. She previously was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Plainfield. She had a passion for photography and enjoyed traveling, often returning to her beloved homeland of Ireland and exploring England.
Music played a significant role in Marie’s life. She and her friends avidly followed Paul McCartney and The Beatles across the United States and Europe, sharing unforgettable memories. Marie was also a lover of cats, especially her cherished cat, Georgie.
Marie’s warmth, love of life, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Predeceased by her parents, Ann and Martin Lacey as well as her brother, Francis Lacey. Surviving are her cousin, Frank Lyons, extended family in Ireland as well as friends around the world.
Visitation will take place in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 4-7PM.
Funeral services will be held 8:45AM in the funeral home on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 followed by a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex.
Burial will follow in the family plot of Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
