David "Kiki" Mendez




South Plainfield - David " KiKi" Mendez, 48, died on Friday, August 1, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.




Born and raised in Perth Amboy, David had resided in Edison for seven years before settling to South Plainfield in 1999.




A graduate of DeVry Institute in Woodbridge, he has been employed as a Technician for Xerox since 1986. Previously, he had worked as a DJ for various clubs and private venues in the central New Jersey area.




David was a devoted family man who coached Pop Warner Eagles for 5 years in Edison, T-Ball and Teener Ball in South Plainfield and was an avid football fan. He enjoyed telling a good joke and making everyone laugh.




Predeceased by his parents, Norberto & Auria (Perez), he is survived by his devoted wife, Doreen (Bispo), beloved sons, Jagger & Jovanni and his nephew Ryan Bispo, whom he has guardianship over. Also surviving are his sister, Nancy Gonzalez and her husband, Angel and their son, Caleb David Gonzalez. His in laws, Rosemarie Bispo, Debbie Bispo, Alfred & Judy Bispo, Johnny & Donna Bispo his nephew, Michael & his wife Marianna Bispo, a niece and several nephews.




Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ




Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield, NJ.




Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral Home.




In lieu of flowers donation in his memory may be made to his children, C/O Doreen Mendez, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.


followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield.
