Chris, Just wanted to send you a note. I can not imagine how you feel by having to depart with the one you love so much. Even though we were work partners I consider you my friend and my prayers and concerns are with you. Seeing all your pictures on Facebook I know you all were a happy family. God bless.

Dear Furnari family, It was 20 years ago exactly that Michelle and I were ending our first year together as teacher and assistant. I had my first assistant job in her 3/4 combination class at Hasty Elementary School in Thomasville, NC. When I walked into the old trailer we were in I met a young, cute, short, bubbly Yankee, while I was a middle aged, mother of 3, Southerner. I was unsure as what to do, but Michelle showed me what she needed, helped me grow as an assistant, teaching and working with the students. It was a wonderful year. We made such a great team, and we had fun doing it. We even got sick together around Christmas that year, me with pneumonia, and her with Scarlett Fever, and then the whole class got sick too. She was an amazing teacher. She loved her students, and was wonderful to me. We became friends outside of school as well. I even still have the pillow she gave me on our last day together. I think of her every time I set it out. We drifted apart, I still visited her at school but I was assigned to other teachers, then she and I both left. I thought of her often, and am saddened that I never tried to find her on Facebook or other social media. She was my inspiration to go back 10 years later and get my teaching degree, and work in 4th grade at Hasty again. I am heartbroken that she has gone. I would have liked to have talked with her again, and prayed over her sickness. She was too young, but only the Lord knows why. Just know that her memories and inspiration lives on in the people she met and the students she taught along the way. I pray that the Lord gives you peace and comfort during these days. Michelle was a wonder teacher, a beautiful lady with a beautiful spirit, and she was my friend, and always in my memories.

Our love and prayers go out to you, Chris, the kids and the rest of the family. We love you and hold you in our arms. Michelle will always be remembered as the beautiful soul that she is. There are no words that can express our sorrow of her passing. She was way to young, but who are we to question God's motive. Evidently, he needs her now, and knows that you are strong enough to endure her passing. We are all here for you, and we love you. Love, Mary and Eddie

Aunt Michelle, I don't know God's plan for our lives, but I know that it always works towards the good of those who love Him. I'm so glad that part of my plan was you and your amazing family. It doesn't feel fair that we had you for such a short time, but it warms my heart to see how you have touched so many lives. Although we mourn such a great and significant loss, I celebrate your life and that you've gone Home to be with the Lord. I love you so much. I promise will keep an eye on Uncle Chris, Stephanie, and Matt for you ;). Until we meet again
