Obituary of Maria S. Lomba

Maria S. Lomba "Dee Dee", 102, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2017 at home in South Plainfield. Born and raised in Comp, Portugal to the late Henry and Candida Santos, she went on to marry Antonio Lomba in 1938. Mr. and Mrs. Lomba moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1949 with their oldest child and continued their family, before settling in Jersey City to raise their three girls. Dee Dee was devoted to her family, going on to raise her children as a single parent after her husband's passing in 1969. She moved to South Plainfield in 1988 and was a devout Catholic who used her faith to get her through life. She was adored by her family, and was an excellent cook. Maria enjoyed doing puzzles, and most of all, enjoyed the quality time spent with her cherished family. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Antonio Lomba. Surviving are her loving daughters, Susan Bodyl and husband Gary of South Plainfield, Candida Flippen and husband Bruce of Dunellen and Antoinette Johannensen and husband Henry of Ocean, her nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:00AM at the funeral home followed by interment at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth.
