Obituary of Eugene W. Kataryniak

Eugene W. Kataryniak, 82 died on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at home. Born in Bayonne and raised in Jersey City, Gene settled to South Plainfield in 1973. A faithful and devout catholic, Gene was a communicant of Our Lady Czestochowa RC Church in South Plainfield and served the church in several capacities. He served as a Head Usher, Eucharistic Minister and an Altar Server. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society and for over 35 years Gene was served on the Finance committee to the popular Feast of St. Anthony. A Veteran of the U.S Air Force, Gene served from 1953-1957. Upon his honorable discharge he worked for Exxon Mobile at the former Linden Plant as a Research Technician prior to retirement. He enjoyed crabbing at the Jersey Shore and spending time with his family, Predeceased by his wife Filomena and four siblings, Anna Morrisey, Mae Iorio, Myron and Janice Kataryniak, Gene is survived by his four daughters, Deborah Granda and her husband Bill of Las Vegas, NV, Karen Argabright and her husband Patrick of Jackson, Janet Smith of Budd Lake and Judy Chirumbolo and her husband Rod of Center Valley PA.; two brothers, William of Bayonne and Raymond and his wife Marie of Cape May; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is Gene's loving and dear friend Linda Pasko. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 9:15am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10am funeral mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 3-8pm in the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Fish Inc.
