Obituary of Anthony John Peluso

South Plainfield, NJ - Anthony John Peluso, Jr., 87, passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Born and raised in South Plainfield, he lived in North Plainfield for ten years, but resided in the borough most of his life. An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy, Anthony proudly served his country during the Korean War aboard the USS Cape Esperance among other vessels. Prior to his enlistment in the Navy, Anthony worked alongside his father in the family oil business. He then went on to own his own gas station, formerly located on the corner of Front Street and Oak Tree Road. He retired in the 1980's as an electrician where he worked at S.M. Electric Company in Rahway. Anthony held a captains license and enjoyed his boat "Black Jack II" until his mobility issues slowed him down just a few years ago. He loved spending time with his family and was dedicated to his grandson Joseph who is autistic and recently entered into an adult day program. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Ciancia) Peluso, his daughter Thea Peluso and her sons Joseph and Anthony Crater all of South Plainfield and his daughter Toni Peluso and her daughter Morgan Thomas of Clark, sister Katherine Kratz of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Uncle Sonny will be dearly missed by all those that knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations sent to the Hope Autism Foundation, HAS Program, 5 Lyons Mall, Box 122, Basking Ridge, NJ would be appreciated. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 beginning at 10:00 am. Funeral services with Father Anthony Sirianni officiating will begin at 12:00 pm. Anthony will be laid to rest in the family plot of Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
