Obituary of Anthony F. Truono

Anthony F. Truono, Jr. 84, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2017 at his home in South Plainfield.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Anthony Sr. and Pauline Truono, he was raised in Westfield and was a graduate of Westfield High School.
Mr. Truono went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a postal worker for many years serving Mountainside and Westfield before his retirement.
Anthony settled in South Plainfield about 50 years ago where he enjoyed taking care of his home and landscaping. An avid reader, he was very articulate and well versed in U.S. History, especially the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Mr. Truono was very politically aware and enjoyed a good conversation on current events. He was a lucky sportsman, playing the races he often found himself in the winner's circle. Most of all, Anthony enjoyed the quality time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his dear sister, Rosemarie Gargano.
Surviving are his loving children, Denise Truono of Benicia, California and Jerry Truono of Linden, New Jersey , his siblings, Nancy Linfonte and Joseph Truono and wife Anita, as well as his nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from4:00 to 8:00PM at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ
Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the funeral home.
Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Truono's memory to the South Plainfield PBA Local 100, 2480 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080
