Mary Pfeifer, 67, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 14, 2016. Born and raised in Newark, Mary resided in Colonia prior to settling to South Plainfield in 1973. Mary spent her entire working career in the nursing field as a registered nurse working at Muhlenburg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield and later Somerset Medical Center in Somerset. She retired from Raritan Valley Surgery Center in Somerset two years ago. Mrs. Pfeifer was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC church in South Plainfield where she was a member of Altar Rosary Society. She was an avid traveler but Aruba was her favorite Island that held a special place in her heart. Mary will be deeply missed by all of her dear family and friends. Surviving is her loving husband of 45 years, Creighton; two daughters, Kristin and Kimberly all of South Plainfield; sister, Joanna Francese and her husband David of Manchester; brother, Mark Nowakowski and his wife Barbara of South Bound Brook and her best friend Joann Toth and family. Also surviving are several loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and a great nephew, cousins, extended relatives and dear friends. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 9:15am in McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10am funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the funeral home.
