Toms River - William DeRose, 94, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Mercerville Center in Hamilton, NJ. Born and raised in Elizabeth, Bill graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He married his late wife and love of his life, Fara (Milazzo) on September 28, 1947. Together, they resided their family in South Plainfield before retiring to Toms River in 1994. He worked initially for Standard Oil in Linden then Merck & Co. in Rahway until his retirement. A communicant and usher in Maximilian Kolbe RC Church of Toms River, Bill was also a member of the Italian American Club in Toms River, The Knights of Columbus of Elizabeth and Toms River and as Refrigeration Engineer, he was a member of the Oil Chemical Atomic Workers Union. Predeceased by his wife and a grandchild; surviving are four children, William DeRose and wife Anne of Portland, CT, Glen DeRose of Raleigh, NC, Rosemary Niemezyk and husband Ed of Cream Ridge and Christopher DeRose of Piscataway. He will also be missed by his seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. Funeral Services will begin on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 9AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in Sacred Heart RC Church. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Family and friends may attend visitation on Thursday from 4-7PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
