Obituary of Richard "Dick" Rogers

Richard Rogers, 81, of South Plainfield, passed away surrounded by his family on the evening of August 24th 2016 at Kindred Care Hospital in Rahway.
Born and raised in Corona, Queens, New York to the late Kenneth and Isabelle Rogers, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a Navy Corpsman.
Richard graduated from Queens College, NY and was a highly regarded Marketing Research Expert and spent much of his distinguished career with Citi Group in New York City.
Richard built a home and raised two children in Huntington, New York, before raising his youngest two children in Redding, CT. He and his family moved to East Brunswick, New Jersey in 1999, before recently moving to South Plainfield in 2013.
Dick was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed the quality time spent with his cherished family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was an avid reader of mystery novels, and especially loved Sherlock Holmes. He collected signed baseballs, coins, and books. He had a keen taste for action movies. He was a storyteller.
He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Karen Holden, who was killed tragically in June of this year.
Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Kathleen Dunn Rogers, his children, Lynne Pallmeyer and husband John, son-in-law Bill Holden, Kristen Rogers-Anderson and husband Ryan, William Rogers and wife Allie, his dear sister Patricia Anderson and husband Ralph, and his grandchildren Kenneth Holden and wife Cynthia, Robert Holden, and Audrey Pallmeyer, as well as his extended family and friends.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, August 27th, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00PM at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dick's memory to the American Red Cross Louisiana Relief Effort, and/or the American Diabetes Research Foundation.
