Obituary of Helen L. Cummings

South Plainfield - Helen M. ( Mercier ) Cummings, 106, entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, January 27, 2016, in Haven Hospice within JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Berkeley Heights, to George and Lila ( English ) Mercier, she has resided in South Plainfield for the past 25 years. She is predeceased by her husband, Bernard Cummings, Jr., granddaughter, Sharon McDonough, and sisters; Viola Schoenbaum and Liz Brenn. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Mahowski and her husband, Robert of South Plainfield, three grandsons, Robert and his wife, Barbara of Green Acers, Fl, Dale of South Plainfield and Dennis and his wife Kelly, of Raleigh, NC, three great grandchildren, Melissa Mitchell, Nicole Mahowski and Ryan Mahowski all of Raleigh, NC and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 2-4 PM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Funeral and cremation services will take place privately with entombment of her cremated remains in Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
