South Plainfield - Miriam M. (Earley) Bowman, 91, died Thursday, February 9, 2017 at home. Born in Jersey City, Miriam has resided in South Plainfield since 1952. Employed with Bradlees for 26 years, Miriam was active with the Retail Clerks Union Local 1262 where she served as Shop Steward. A communicant of Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield, Miriam was also active with the South Plainfield Senior Center where she enjoyed their holiday parties. Predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" Bowman who died in 1986 and by seven sisters and two brothers, surviving are her daughter, Laureen Leshik and husband Richard of Connecticut; son, Michael Bowman and wife Sarah of Washington Township. Miriam was the proud and loved grandmother of Ali Leshik of Hoboken and Greg Leshik of Brooklyn, both will dearly miss her. Funeral services will begin on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 9AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield at 10AM. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Family and friends may attend visitation on Sunday from 2-5PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Miriam's memory to the South Plainfield Senior Center to be used towards the senior parties, 2480 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080
