Obituary of George P. Lefkus

George P. Lefkus passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 at JFK Medical Center in Edison NJ at the age of 90. Born in Perth Amboy, Mr. Lefkus lived in Hopelawn before moving to South Plainfield in 1962. A veteran of WWII, George served with the Army from 1944 until 1946 under General Patton. He served in the 75th Division with the Weapons Platoon. George was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star. George worked for the former Chesebrough Ponds Company in Perth Amboy NJ for 30 years of dedicated service, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the South Plainfield VFW Post 6763 and the South Plainfield American Legion Chaumont Post 243. George was also a member of the NRA. George was devoted to gardening and landscaping. He took great pride in his yard. George also loved photography. He is predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Surviving are his wife Claire of 62 years and 3 children Janet Caron and her husband Michael of Genoa OH, Kenneth of South Plainfield NJ, Lisa Morrison and her husband Tim of Glen Gardner NJ; and 7 grandchildren; Amanda, Jennifer and Christopher Caron, Ryan and Kyle Lefkus, Brian and Steven Morrison. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 3-7PM in the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:00AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park Mausoleum, Piscataway, NJ. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park, 132 Evergreen Rd. Edison, NJ 08818.
