Howard Nathan Evert Sr. 91, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 in the Arista Care at Cedar Oaks in South Plainfield. Born and raised in Palmerton, PA., Mr. Evert resided in Jersey City prior to settling to South Plainfield in 1959. A Veteran of the US Army, Howard faithfully served our country for 21 years and received his honorable discharge in 1959 at the rank of Master Sergeant. In addition, Mr. Evert worked for Johnson and Johnson in Somerville as a Line Operator for over 20 years before his retirement. A former member of the South Plainfield Rescue Squad, Howard enjoyed spending time outdoors in particular hunting and fishing with his son Howard Jr. Predeceased by his wife Frances, Howard is survived by his children; Frances Both and her husband Robert of Middlesex, Ethel Bartlett and her husband Brian of Manalapan, Karen Cope and her husband Michael of PA. and Howard Nathan Evert Jr. and his wife Diane of Cliffwood Beach; sister, Joan "Dolly" Curcio and her husband Richard of South Plainfield, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 5-8pm in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 beginning at 11Am in the funeral home. Howard will be laid to rest beside his wife at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
