Obituary of Elizabeth P. Austin

South Plainfield - Elizabeth P. (DeAndrea) Austin, 81, lung cancer survivor who provided strength and spirit to many at the ProCure Proton Therapy Center in Somerset, died January 27, 2016 at Bridgeway Care and Rehab Center. A life long resident of South Plainfield, Elizabeth was born to the late Anthony and Philomena (Muccilli), she recently relocated to Hillsborough with her daughter and family. A graduate of North Plainfield High School, Elizabeth met her husband the late, Donald "Doc", after he purchased a convertible car from her brother. It was love at first sight, the two enjoyed taking rides in the car and went on to raise five children. Elizabeth was on original Middlesex Mall employee, she also worked in various eateries and ran a day care out of her Walnut Street residence of fifty years, where she took great pride in her landscaping. In the early 1980s, Elizabeth and Doc owned an operated the Little Store on Clinton Avenue where she loved all the customers. A member of the First Baptist Church of South Plainfield, Elizabeth was very active with the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and collected Betty Boop memorabilia which gave her the nickname of "Boop"with many family and friends, to whom she will be missed by. Predeceased by her husband, Donald "Doc" Austin and daughter, Donna Gonzalez, surviving are four children, Patricia Kitlasz and husband Kenny of Hendersonville, NC, Daniel Austin and wife Sherry of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Lou Millard and husband Teddy of Hillsborough, Beth Austin and wife Mindy Decheuaux of Florida; son-in-law, Frank Gonzalez of Belvidere; Mary Michelle Mitchell whom she loved as a daughter and three brothers, John, Carmen and Angelo DeAndrea. She will also be missed by her nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and dear friend Jean Pacifico as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 10:15AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080 follow by a church service in the First Baptist Church of South Plainfield at 11AM. Interment will follow in Hillside of Samptown Cemetery, South Plainfield. Family and friends may attend visitation on Sunday from 4-8PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Elizabeth's memory.
