South Plainfield - William E. McAllister, 88, died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway. Born and raised in West Virginia, William has been a resident of South Plainfield for over 60 years. He was active with the South Plainfield Senior Center, helping seniors with their income taxes and served as President with the AARP Chapter 4144 volunteer group. He also volunteered with the Salvation Army and their Mr. Fix - It program, which helped seniors do household projects. He was named Volunteer of the Year with his late wife, Jean. During the Korean War, William served honorably with the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, William worked as an Electrical Engineer with Lockheed in North Plainfield. Predeceased by his wife of 56 years who died in August of 2007, Jean Davis McAllister; surviving are his son, Stephen R. McAllister and wife Edna of Knightdale, NC; daughters, Marjorie E. Bruno and husband Bob of Hillsborough and Norma J. Predmore and husband Bill of Millstone Township. He will also be missed by his seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 10AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Entombment will follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7-9PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flower donations may be made to South Plainfield Senior Center, 90 Maple Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080
